Are you looking for a worthy cause to help?

The Humane Society of Rome, Inc. is always looking for volunteers. Our furry friends here at the Shelter need your help! There are many ways you can help make to a difference in their lives and also make our community a better place for all of us to live.

The Humane Society is looking for volunteers to help with the following:

Shelter Helpers – Tell us what you would like to do or ask where we need help caring for our many wonderful cats or dogs. Young people under 16 are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a parent or approved adult. This is a great opportunity to help care for the animals and learn how a shelter runs.

Foster Parent – Take an animal into your home temporarily and provide it with the care and TLC they need.

Community Education & Adoptions – Work on informing the public about important issues dealing with animals. Or you can go with shelter staff as they bring animals out into the community to get them adopted. We go to PetsMart a few weekends a month as well as other locations. It is fun and another opportunity to get our animals adopted.

Donations – Help get needed donations (funds, food, toys, etc.) for the shelter. All donations (your included!) are always welcome. Thank you for caring.

Special Events – Help plan, organize or work one of our events such as the Walkathon, Pictures with Santa or our Holidays Campaign.

Fund Raising – Help raise funds for our present shelter and work with us to build our new shelter!

 Do you have an idea? Is there something you think we should be doing? Please let us know. We welcome all suggestions/ideas.

If you are interested in getting involved please stop by the shelter to pick up a volunteer form or you can download a copy and bring it with you. If you are under 16 you need to get your parent's or guardian's permission and they will need to accompany you for your fist visit. .
